OHMConnect is coming to Australia

Origin Energy has partnered with US startup OhmConnect, to launch its gamified behavioral demand response technology in the Australian market. The product which provides rewards for reducing energy use at home during peak demand is set to be rolled out to first customers within the year.

OhmConnect was one of the first opportunities Origin explored within the first year of Free Electrons, the startup innovation program it co-founded in 2017, where 10 utilities from around the globe access the agility, fresh ideas and tech knowledge of emerging energy innovators.

With Module 1, of Free Electrons underway virtually, hosts Origin Energy have taken the opportunity to announce their collaboration with OhmConnect to the 2020 cohort, inviting Ohm Chief Software Architect, Max Dunn, and Director of Partnerships, Elliot Marks to provide insights on their journey.

The Ohm partnership brings such a good match between both organisations. Ohm has a passion for educating, inspiring and rewarding customers based on their pedigree from the gaming world and Origin brings its energy markets and trading expertise. “Together we can do something really special”, said Cameron Briggs, General Manager, Future Energy.

Diving deeper into the partnership, AFR Journalist, Angela Macdonald-Smith, sat down with Origin CEO, Frank Calabria to talk about startup/utility partnerships and the future of energy.
